The Libeň Docks project involved the Karlín Group in the role of land developer, responsible for the comprehensive development of the area and preparing the master plan. The project aimed at revitalizing a former industrial zone that had been impacted by floods, while also capitalizing on the area’s attractive location along the bends of the Vltava River. To facilitate the regeneration of the area, the Karlín Group partnered with the renowned German firm Drost & Klose Architekten and organized a workshop that invited 12 leading European architectural studios to participate. This workshop approach, one of the first of its kind in the Czech Republic, was designed to create a development strategy, detailed urban solutions, and architectural designs for the Libeň Docks site.

The project, including the land, was acquired in 2006 by ICKM and is currently being implemented by CRESTYL.

SIAL (Sdzružení inženýrů a architektů)

The internationally recognized SIAL studio was founded in 1968 by Karel Hubáček, Miroslav Masák, and Otakar Binar, and is best known for their work on the Ještěd Television Tower and Mountain Hotel Ještěd (1970), which won the prestigious Perret Award.

The winning proposal came from the Czech studio SIAL (Sdružení inženýrů a architektů), which provided the foundation for the organic integration of the docks into the broader urban fabric of Prague. The design carefully addressed the future development of the area, clearly defining quiet and busy zones, and outlining the various typologies needed for balanced urban development. The final result included plans for a well-rounded civic infrastructure for the area.
