Palác Karlín was the first building to be revitalized as part of the New Karlín master plan. This functionalist administrative building, constructed in the late 1920’s and early 1930’s, was designed by Brno architect Bohumír F. A. Čermák for Českomoravská–Kolben–Daněk, which later became the headquarters of the ČKD Dukla company.
In the reconstruction of this functionalist palace, Ricardo Bofill applied a design approach where modern aesthetics blend seamlessly with the historical structure. The building features a symmetrical and meticulously composed functionalist façade, with a monumental corner softened by rounded edges, reflecting the urban style of the time.
Inside, the building offers flexible office spaces and an airy atrium that celebrates light and space. The Karlín Group originally initiated the trend of revitalization and the construction of high-quality contemporary buildings in the emerging Karlín district with this project.
