The Economia Newsroom project is an adaptation of a 20th-century boiler factory into the headquarters of the prominent publishing house Economia. This transformation is a prime example of a contextually sensitive approach, maintaining the industrial character of the building while meeting the needs of a modern office space. The project, led by Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura with the Karlín Group as the project manager, highlights the preservation of key architectural elements from Karlín’s industrial past.
The design uses the full height of the building (18 meters in the street section) and includes two mezzanines that overlook the main central area, designated for meeting rooms and administrative offices. The open space of 1,800 m² provides a modern and flexible environment supporting the innovative concept of "Innovation Flow – Economia newsroom management model", which fosters a dynamic and collaborative working atmosphere.
The design retains the original structure and façade, while enhancing the potential of the vast open space inside, with long halls and huge skylights.
